Welcome to snapdragon yoga with Erika
About Erika
I’m a yoga teacher local to Salt Lake City passionate about making the practices of yoga and mindfulness accessible to everyone, regardless of experience and demographic. To me, yoga is about connection with one’s authentic self, with community, with the environment. As a teacher I offer a safe space and tools to tune into yourself, explore creative movement, and develop a kind and respectful relationship with your body and mind. Yoga is a beautiful way to listen to the subtle messages of the body, ease stress, anxiety, and physical pain, and draw awareness to how you engage with yourself and with the world around you. Connection with that awareness can be the catalyst for growth needed to cultivate the qualities you want to embody.
In my own path with yoga, I’ve felt the benefits of my regular practice in my mental health, relationship to my body, and presence with loved ones and my environment. I deeply believe in and practice what I share with others.
As a life-long nature and animal lover, I bring connection to the earth into my teaching through imagery and seasonal practices, and am always happy to guide outdoors (meditation with nature walks, birding, and waterfall hikes). I have years of experience as a wildlife biologist, conservationist, and backpacking guide, and outside is where I feel the most at home.
My certifications are a 500hour-RYT, with a 300hour-Advanced Teacher of Therapeutic Yoga, both from Kripalu schools of Yoga and Integrative Yoga Therapy. I’m continuing my journey in therapeutic teaching at Kripalu to become an 800hour Yoga Therapist. My trainings in yoga, pranayama, meditation, therapeutic yoga, trauma sensitive yoga, adaptive yoga, Ayurveda, and hands-on adjustments, offer me a wide knowledge base to draw from to find practices that fit the specific needs of different individuals.
I use a sliding scale for group and one-one-one sessions, please email me for more information!
The snapdragon has been my favorite flower since I was little (mostly because I liked that the dragon’s mouth opened and closed when you squeeze the sides of the petals). Snapdragons can grow and bloom in rocky and harsh environments, standing strong in the presence of nature’s challenges. Their ability to be so delicate yet withstand difficult environments embodies grace, resilience, and strength.
